Reflection
Thank You!
I am so grateful for the time you have spent looking through my work! This website was created for a course I am currently taking, ENC 3416 or Writing and Editing in Print Online, where I have compiled a portion of my work, both completed inside and outside of this class, employing the strategies I have learned. Our studies focused on visual design elements, becoming proficient in online editing platforms, studying different formats of texts as they transform with technology, as well as applying these to multiple different literary projects. For this assignment, I had the option to choose between including an Open Letter assignment and a Feature Article that we created during the Spring Semester. Though proud of both works, I ultimately decided to include the Feature Article titled “AiseBrush.” This profile was written about a close friend of mine who is currently in the process of developing her business in cosmetology, whilst maintaining a full-time student at Florida State University. We had the option to choose from a whole varied crowd of people to interview, but I knew that her story would be a great one to tell. Not only was it a privilege to learn more about her life, but I also find great importance in telling the stories of new and upcoming, hardworking students at Florida State University. Her uniqueness and drive set her apart from the crowd, and allowed me to craft a narrative about her life leading up to the point of her great success today. I believe that this piece shows my skills in not only writing, but my creativity with formatting and presentation, hence why I displayed it here. The next piece I included is an analysis of an Artist Book titled “The Fortune Teller.” I wrote this for a separate course I was enrolled in during the spring, ENG 3803 or History of Text Technologies, and it is a piece that I am probably most proud of writing this semester. It encapsulates my ability to analyze and look deeper into text technology and has a more serious tone than the other pieces I have included. The third piece I have decided to include is another project that discusses the history and use of linguistic terrorism in literature and modern-day communication. This profile was created for ENC 3021, or Rhetoric, and is another piece that shows my proficiency in Canva, which I often employ for work that involves more creative formatting. The fourth and final piece is an analysis of the framework of Christine de Pizan in relation to the Depp v. Heard Defamation case. This was crafted in ENC 3021 as well, and is meant to show our skills in applying the theories of past orators in a modern-day aspect. In relation to the display of the website, I chose to keep the design minimalistic, but still bright and pleasing to look at in order to establish professionality and positivity. I made sure to include a photo of Doak Campbell Stadium by one of my favorite local Tallahassee artists, ArtxNikki, to further establish my love and appreciation for my current university. Finally, please feel free to leave any feedback in my Contact Me section, and as always, Go ‘Noles!
